This cutting tool places thread through a workpiece part in a process that is known as tapping.  It is commonly done so that screws can eventually be placed into the threaded part of the material.

Tool Path

A tool path is the common term that machinists use when they refer to the path that the cutting tool will be taking on the workpiece.  This tool path is chosen by the computer program using the G code programming.
